At some point or the other in our lives we all have to deal with the appearance of stretch marks. Caused as a result of abrupt weight gain and its subsequent loss, whether because of a sudden intensive exercise program or post pregnancy, the fact is getting rid of stretch marks is tough and needs special expertise and care. Use some of our tried and tested tips and tricks for dealing with the unwanted marks on your body- permanently.

1. Exfoliate:
develop a routine of exfoliating every time you bathe. Spend 10 minutes gently scrubbing your body, concentrating on the stretch marks as exfoliation helps to remove the top skin layer which is then replaced by new cells. A special exfoliation scrub should be applied every fortnight to aid the process.

2. Prevent Sun Damage:
stretch marks are already-sensitive skin areas and harsh rays from the sun can aggravate them further. Be sure to cover up the area if you are going to be spending a lot of time in the sun. Apply sunscreen and sun-block lotions to soothe the skin and protect it.

3. Oil Massage:
use olive oil to massage the skin regularly. It has been proven that daily massaging helps in getting rid of stretch marks in a few months.

4. Hydration:
water helps to keep the body moisturized and the skin too is benefited. The suppleness and softness of the skin depends on the body’s hydration levels. Drink a lot of water through the day as this will help to enrich the skin and keep it smooth.

5. Exercise:
instead of allowing yourself to gain weight again, maintain a good exercise routine and keep yourself fit so you won’t have to worry about more stretch marks in the future.
